"Sugar" is the 2nd track I received from Soul On Pads. Initially I wasn't sure it was really suited to be a Rap track, but I knew I wanted to write something sensual/sexy for the album. I called Reggie B(allgame) in to write/arrange/sing the hook for this. He knocked it out without much prodding or guidance from me. I've always trusted his judgment and ear. It paid off big on this song. In fact, the title...itself (the VERY last addition to the song)...came from the lyrics Reggie wrote. I also enlisted Pen Pusha producer Max Miller-Loran to add a little flavor to the chorus with some nimble trumpeteering. He too, didn't need any help from me. He knew exactly what would spice it up.
